This is the third in our Intense series of Rapidplays. After the last one, a few wags suggested we should rename these 15/5 competitions Blitz for Old Men.Certainly demanding and maybe just right for the age challenged.

Remember too, these tourneys build up to the NICS Grand Prix; the more and the better you play, the greater your chances of securing a share in the GP Prize fund expected to be well over £100

On a similar pattern to earlier NICS rapidplays, the tourney will be organised as follows:

Entrance Fees

£10 on the day, or £8 for advance earlybird registration. No other discounts available

Registration

Begins at 1:00pm for a 1:30pm start. Advance earlybird registration by email to the controller for a 20% discount

Rounds

6 round Swiss starting at 1:30pm. 15+5 on the clock reckoning that 6th round should finish before 5:30pm

Prize Fund

After expenses, admission fees will be distributed as 25% to NICS Grand Prix, 25% to club fund, 50% prize fund on the day. Depending on the field, awards will include at least Winner, Runner-up and Grading prizes

Lunch

Lunch is served in the Whistles Bar & Restaurant from 12:00am on Sundays, checkout the sample menu. Quite a few folk enjoyed their meal last time; either a full-on lunch or a lighter short-order plate.
