February 2016 Childrens Chess
Again we had a brilliant field of enthusiastic chess players. The Grand-prix fight is heating up who will be the top 12 competitors to get invited to the Stormont Elite tournament. The standings will be published shortly.
During the day players solved challenging chess puzzles. This is a good way of improving your game. Patterns of attack tend to repeat and seeing it in a problem allows you to spot it in a game.
Some examples of the chess puzzles: Solutions at the end of this page.
Both sections were challenged to complete the sheets as the competition had everyone focused. It was still good to get so many solutions returned for marking.
