Muldoons return to top

(B&D League 2015/16 Week 11) The top-of-the-table clash between the CS Lewis Lions and Muldoons 1 ended in victory for the Corporation Square side, putting them back in the driving seat in the race for the Silver King.

Division 1

  • CS Lewis Lions 1.5-3.5 Muldoons 1
  • The A Team 3-2 QUB 1
  • Bangor Groomsport 0-5 Ballynafeigh 1

Muldoons 1 returned to the top of Division 1 with a 3.5-1.5 win over the CS Lewis Lions, with wins for Gareth Annesley, Danny Mallaghan and Nicholas Pilkiewicz securing the bonus points. The A Team's match with QUB 1 included four draws, with only Ray Devenney succeeding in breaking the deadlock against Ian Woodfield, while Ballynafeigh 1 continued to close on the leaders with a whitewash of bottom side Bangor Groomsport.

Division 2

  • Muldoons 2 1-4 Kelly's Heroes
  • Ballynafeigh 2 3.5-1.5 Fruithill
  • NI Civil Service 1-4 CS Lewis Witches

Kelly's Heroes made a slight dent in Ballynafeigh 2's lead, as they beat Muldoons 2 4-1 while their Strawbridge Cup rivals could only score 3.5 against Fruithill. NICS' Peter May (1792) and Mark Newman (1742) can normally be relied upon to do the business when paired together on the top two boards, but while the latter defeated Richard Gould, May fell victim to Ian Kilpatrick (1565).

Division 3

  • QUB 2 5-0 QUB 3
  • Ballynafeigh 3 3.5-1.5 Ballynafeigh 4
  • Andrew's Army 5-0 Bangor Wannabees

The leading pair both recorded whitewashes this week, while Ballynafeigh 4 put up somewhat stiffer resistance against Ballynafeigh 3.
