Muldoons surge ahead after Bangor whitewash

(B&D League 2015/16 Week 12) Muldoons 1 are eight points ahead in the Silver King race after a 5-0 win over Bangor Groomsport, but their nearest rivals, Ballynafeigh 1 and QUB 1, each have a match in hand.

Division 1

  • Muldoons 1 5-0 Bangor Groomsport
  • Ballynafeigh 1 3-2 The A Team
  • QUB 1 3-2 CS Lewis Lions

Muldoons 1 were too strong for a four-man Bangor Groomsport side, romping to a 5-0 victory on Monday night. They are eight points ahead after the other four teams were involved in close matches; Brendan Jamison was the only player to get a decisive result in Ballynafeigh 1's 3-2 win over The A Team, while QUB 1 pulled level with the CS Lewis Lions after a 3-2 win. Remarkably at this late stage of the season, Ballynafeigh 1, QUB 1 and the Lions are all on 44.5 points (with The A Team just a further half-point behind), although the Gresham Street side have played one more match.

Division 2

  • Fruithill 3.5-1.5 Muldoons 2
  • Kelly's Heroes 3.5-1.5 NI Civil Service
  • CS Lewis Witches 0.5-4.5 Ballynafeigh 2

Ballynafeigh 2 increased their gap at the top of Division 2 by another point with a dominant win over the CS Lewis Witches. Only Garhy Aboelsoud's drew against Dennis Wilkinson prevented a whitewash. The second and third placed teams, Kelly's Heroes and Fruithill, scored 3.5-1.5 wins against NICS and Muldoons 2 respectively.

Division 3

  • Ballynafeigh 4 1-4 QUB 2
  • Bangor Wannabees 2.5-2.5 Ballynafeigh 3
  • QUB 3 0.5-4.5 Andrew's Army

Andrew's Army closed the gap by half a point as they defeated QUB 3 4.5-0.5 while Ballynafeigh 4 took a point off QUB 2, Dmitry Zelenchuk (1050) beating Paul Reaney (1350). The Bangor Wannabees drew with Ballynafeigh 3 in the week's other match.
