Muldoons and Ballynafeigh headed for final-day showdown?

(B&D League 2015/16 Week 14) Muldoons 1 and Ballynafeigh 1 both won to pull clear of their Division 1 rivals, while Ballynafeigh 2 make amends for last week's slip-up with a big win over NICS

Division 1

  • QUB 1 2-3 Ballynafeigh 1
  • The A Team 1-4 Muldoons 1

Muldoons 1 moved closer to the Silver King with a 4-1 win over The A Team, while Ballynafeigh 1 gave chase with a 3-2 win over QUB 1 (who they will play again in the free week - another good result will give the Ormeau Road side a decent chance of clinching the title in the final week against Muldoons 1). The scheduled match between the CS Lewis Lions and Bangor Groomsport was postponed.

Division 2

  • Muldoons 2 2.5-2.5 CS Lewis Witches
  • Fruithill 1-4 Kelly's Heroes
  • Ballynafeigh 2 4.5-0.5 NI Civil Service

The CS Lewis Witches maintained their 2.5-point cushion over Muldoons 2 when they battled to a draw; the match featured an upset on board 1 as Rodney Orr (1354) defeated Ian Kilpatrick (1565). Kelly's Heroes put the pressure on Ballynafeigh 2 with a 4-1 win over Fruithill; Ballynafeigh 2 responded magnificently with a 4.5-0.5 win over a NICS side that included both of their 1700+ players. Ballynafeigh 2 now only need a draw against Muldoons 2 in week 15 to secure the John Strawbridge Cup.

Division 3

  • Ballynafeigh 3 1.5-3.5 QUB 3

In the only Division 3 match to go ahead this week, QUB 3 all but consigned the Bangor Wannabees to the wooden spoon with a fine win over Ballynafeigh 3.
