Another Brilliant Omagh Championship Rapidplay - November 24th
Hosted by the Omagh Club - a regular event in our chess calender and one we look forward to. The 2018 Omagh Rapidplay Championship took place on Saturday 24th November with 45 players. One of our largest competitions.
The Ulster Chess Masters - November 10th/11th 2018
Players gathered in the NICS Bowling Pavillion to compete in the 2018 Ulster Masters.

(B&D League 2018/19 Week 5) Strand 1 returned to the top of Division 1 with victory over Ballynafeigh 2, while QUB 2 and 3 continue their winning ways in their respective divisions.

In the league free week Bangor Club hosted a top Blitz tournament at their club - with 34 players in attendance and Brendan Jamison controlling.

(B&D League 2018/19 Week 1) Civil Service survived an unexpected setback on board 1 to earn victory against Ballynafeigh 2 and end the first week of the season on top of Division 1.

The Atlantic Hotel Portrush hosted a series of events over the weekend of 12th/13th October. A Simultaneous against Brendan Jamison. An active tournament of Six rounds finished off with an evening Blitz on Saturday evening.

Belfast Culture Night 2018 lots of chat, coffee and chess
The UCU had two cafes this year. Costa Cafe at Victoria Square and our long term location of Caffe Nero at Lombard Street. Chess, good company in the surrounds of the brilliant atmosphere of Belfast Culture Night.

Belfast holds one of 8 qualifiers for the UK Open Blitz 2018
On September 8th at Stormont Pavilion players gathered to play in the Belfast Qualifier for the UK Open Blitz 2018. The top two prizes are entry into the UK Open Blitz final.
The Ulster Chess Union holds its nineth Summer School
Within the lovely location of Ballynafiegh Bowling Club. Over the three days Weds 8th to Fri 10th August 2018. Fourteen youngsters met and enjoyed 3 focused days of chess.
