The Childrens Chess April Tournament took place on Sat 11th April hosted at Methodist College.
The month of April and we have only two monthly competitions remaining. Todays Childrens Chess with an opportunity to win a place at the Stormont Elite Award ceremony followed by the Belfast Mega-finals on May 9th.
Pupils gathered at Methodist Collge. Collecting puzzle sheets to compelete between rounds. - interestingly there were a couple of mate in 2's that were very challenging - see these below.
Geoff Hindley our brilliant volunteer put arrows out directing players to the chess rooms and we setup the two chess playing rooms. With a 3rd room where parents could stay.
With everyone registered. The pairings were made, displayed on the screen and players found their tables and shook hands and the first round began.
Just prior to round 5 the puzzle sheets are collected and with the help of our other brilliant volunteer Amol Thoke they are marked and ordered. Each player recieving a certficiate.

Round one and we look for the usual 1 - 0 - 1 - 0 .... pattern. So following this Alexander Davis with a draw against Shlok Thoke does very well. As goes Soundharya Premkumar with a draw against Kia Jahandizi.
