Alan Burns Tournament Series Begins

The Alan Burns tournament series started with a Lacksidasical on Sunday 13th December. Players enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of Chess!! At the Civil Service Pavilion.

Coinciding with the last day of the London Chess Classic 2015 we had the games of these top players on the large TV in the playing arena. Could we produce that level of chess. Well we can try! The time limit was set at 20mins with 5 secs increment. 16 players set to focus on an 8x8 board and find some beautiful combinations. Art at its dynamic, strategic best. Perhaps to add to this mix we had a new face from Russia via Scotland and Downpatrick, Mikhail Pavlov who studied and sings Opera and had just travelled from visiting the London Chess Classic - an opportunity for some excellent conversations.
