The Belfast LJCC Qualifier 2012

The 3rd Belfast LJCC Qualifier took place on Saturday 6th October. The calibre of players was high. Unfortunately the numbers were low. This is a once in a year opportunity to qualify for the prestigious London Junior Chess Championships where the UK's top young players battle.

Focused on the beautiful game

In the Junior section it was decided to merge U8, U10 and U12 and play an all play all.

Also in the U19 section we were able to play a seven round all play all.

The section included last years Belfast Scholastic Shield Holder and Under 12 Ulster Champion - a top star in Ulster Chess Raghav Gupta who won the tournament without dropping a game. In the U19's we had the Irish International player Karina Kruk WCM (Womans Candidate Master).

Against him we had a section that included 5 girls. Lucia Corrigan held second place until beaten in the final round by Ellen Eachus.

Admira excelled gaining 2 points considering she was by far the youngest player.
