Karina Kruk returns from World Youth Chess Championships

Karina Kruk returns from Maribor, Slovenia having represented Ireland at the World Youth Chess Championships. Scoring an excellent 5 out of 11.

 

Karina has now represented Ireland in three top International Tournaments.

The World Youth Chess Championships: 7th November-19th November 2012 Maribor, Solvenia

Karina showed her strength by beating a player rated 1916 and drawing with players rated 2039 and 1881.

The Irish Womans team came 11 places higher than their seeded place. Placed ahead of both Wales and Scotland. Monica Gedvilaite gained the title of Women FIDE Master for her fantastic score of 7/9 (winning her last 7 games in a row). Karina Kruk gained the title of Women Candidate Master for her score of 5/9.
