The Stormont Elite Chess Tournament 2012 and Award Ceremony

Young Top Chess Players at Stormont

Kieran McCarthy MLA invited the top young chess players to Stormont on 8th June 2012 for a tour of the building, an Elite tournament and to receive awards for the year.

There are five Childrens Chess Tournaments over the year run by the Ulster Schools Chess Council and the Ulster Chess Union. The players gain points at each tournament and their best three are added to their score for the year. The top four from each of three sections are invited with their Principals and Parents to Stormont. This event is to celebrate the top chess talent. The players range from P4 to Lower 6th. We have on the invite list Karina Kruk the Under19 Irish Champion and selected to represent Ireland in Europe, also Ulster Champions 2012 Luica Corrigan, Raghav Gupta, Kevin Robbin, Radhika Gupta, Karina Kruk.

Winners of 'Exceptional Young Player 2012' Honor Parissis (Fullerton House) and Vincent Sweetnam.
