The monthly Chess continues with March's Childrens Chess
This month thanks to the effort of Ross Harris we had ratings. Calculated over the years competitions so far. These when used in the Swiss Perfect pairing system would mean that players closely rated to each other wouldnt meet until latter on in the competition and hopefully the top players wouldnt meet until the last couple of rounds.
Again thanks to a anonymous benefactor we had some excellent trophies.
We also had at hand 3 excellent chess players to play a friendly and coach the youngsters. Brendan Jamieson (GM slayer), Ross Harris (GM slayer no 2.) and Alan Delaney.
The competition had its usual problem solving competition. This month made slightly harder by having less "checkmates in x moves" and more white/black to move and you need to select the best move. Harder but for that extra effort more fulfilling. Some examples :

Winner Samuel Trimble,
Some excellent problem solving. A brilliant way to challenge the mind and improve your chess - heartly recommend every player to get a problem book and or solve problems online.
The primary section played slower and again we saw some excellent endgames. Due to the slower playing we had time for only 5 rounds. The Gonzalez twins were back strengthening an already tough section.
