The final round of the Summer Tournament
The final round of the Summer Tournament was played on Wednesday 20th September. After 20 weeks of brilliant chess the results have been calculated.
Presentation to Ray Devenney for outstanding contribution to Ulster Chess
In recognition of Ray's outstanding contribution to Ulster Chess , Belfast South Chess Club organised a presentation for him at The Bankers Club 20th September 2017. The presentation took place on the penultimate evening of the Eglantine Summer Tournament in which has Ray has been a participant.

The new School year has started and the Childrens Chess Tournament series kicks-off
The first in the monthly tournaments for this academic year is the London Junior Chess Championship Belfast Qualifier on Saturday 7th October.
Ulster Chess Championships 2017
The Ulster Chess Championships were held over the weekend of 2nd/3rd September at the brilliant location of the Europa Hotel.
Gentle reminder that this years UCU fees have been increased to £25.
This years UCU fees were increased at the AGM to £25 for adults and £10 for under 16's.
St Petersburg v Belfast match report
On Friday 18 August 2017, twelve players from Belfast travelled to Russia for an exciting week long chess trip. Located in the North East of Saint Petersburg, the Kalininsky Sports School hosted the international chess match, an event that was planned over the past 8 months by Mikhail Pavlov (1795) and Brendan Jamison (1747). The staff and coaches at Kalininsky were extremely warm and friendly and they presented a fun-filled week of chess activities for Team Belfast.

Fun at the Summer School
This years UCU childrens summer school was held at the excellent venue of Ballynafeigh Bowling Club - Ormeau Park. Over 3 days 2/3/4 August - 12 young chess players enjoyed playing chess, solving problems.

Daniil Zelenchuk scored an impressive 4/5 as Ireland easily retained the Robinson Cup in Cardiff.
Top young players do well at Delancey Northern GigaFinals
11 Players travelled to Wright Robinson College in Manchester to take part in the Delancey UK Schools Chess Challenge Northern GigaFinal. To play top players from the UK. There were some 1000 children - the atmosphere was excited and tense with anticipation.

On 22nd July 2017 Andrew Todd will be participating in a Simultaneous exhibition to raise money for Aberdeen University Chess Club.
Ulster AGM and award ceremony held on June 13th
Members gathered at the Civil Service social club to vote on three proposals, elect the committee and recieve the league awards and the Tom Clarke Grand-Prix trophy.
