National School Chess Championships 2021/22
The top team schools chess competition. The U19 ECF National School Chess Championships 2021/22 is now open for entries.
Childrens Chess starts with the Belfast London Junior Chess Championship Qualifier
Childrens Chess is back. With its first tournament on Saturday 2nd October 2021. Taking place at Methodist College. A 6 round tournament. Followed in the year with our monthly Childrens Chess tournaments including the Ulster Schools Championship in December.
Tony Beckett awarded Honorary Membership of Bangor Chess Club
The Bangor Chess Club AGM was held outdoors at the Groomsport picnic tables on Saturday 11th September 2021. The club voted unanimously to award Tony Beckett with Lifetime Honorary Membership of Bangor Chess Club.
The Bangor Classic Continues.....
With the Bangor Chess Club premises unavailable for use during September and October, the Bangor Classic will continue for 4 more weeks outdoors at the picnic tables at Groomsport Harbour
GreenIsland Back to School Blitz 2021
Greenisland FC Chess Club put on a Back to School Blitz Competition on Thursday 9th September. Players from GFC Chess Club. Strand Chess Club and Lisburn Chess Club played 6 rounds of competitive blitz chess.

Greenisland FC Chess Summer Scorcher Blitz Tournament
Greenisland FC Chess Club hosted a successful hugely successful blitz tournament on the afternoon of the 18th July 2021. Just like the weather, the chess was scorching with three sections and 32 players competing to take away the trophies.
A brilliant tournament - face to face play at the Ulster Championships 2021
We had a top section enriched by the presence of FM Tom O'Gorman and Alice O'Gorman. With previous Ulster Champions: Steve Scannell, Daniil Zelenchuk and Thomas Donaldson. Top Ulster players Danny Roberts, Gareth Annesley and new to Ulster Mandar Tahmankar we were in for some brilliant chess.
Sad loss of Dr Tom Esmonde
Tom Esmonde was a player who was greatly respected and a man who gave to the World. We were lucky to have him in our chess World.
The British Junior Champs to be held on 13th-14th November 2021
The British Junior Rapid & Blitz Championship will take place on 13th-14th November at Kents Hill Park, Milton Keynes.
