UCU Events Update – Remainder of the Season

This has been a challenging year for UCU events; however, we have been fortunate to secure arbiters for events held so far. We would like to provide members with an update on plans for the remainder of the season.

Ulster Rapid Championship

Our next event is the Ulster Rapid Championship, taking place on Saturday 28th February at Fruithill Chess Club (Falls Bowling Club).

Event details:

FIDE-rated tournament (FIDE)
6 rounds at 25+0 time control
Time: 9:30am – 4:30pm
Entry fee: £15

International Women’s Day Celebration Event

Our Women’s Development Officer has organised a special event in collaboration with Ireland’s first Woman Grandmaster, Trisha Kanyamarala, and Lisburn Chess Club to celebrate International Women’s Day.

This event will be held in Lisburn on Sunday 8th March from 12pm to 4pm.

Anyone wishing to participate should contact Leah to reserve a place.

Annual GM Simul

Tournament Director Karina Campbell is pleased to confirm that the annual GM Simul will take place on Saturday 23rd May.

We are delighted to welcome Grandmaster Keith Arkell to Belfast!

Full event details will be confirmed shortly, with the preliminary venue listed as Lisburn Chess Club.

Ticket availability will be confirmed after allocation at the Ulster Rapid Championship. GM Simul Ticket Winners will be notified via email.
