2012 Ulster Championship results

After three days and six rounds of competitive chess at Belfast's Europa Hotel, three Ulster Championship titles have been decided.

Michael Waters won the Senior Championship for the third successive year. He finished on 5 points, with John Masterson and Stephen Scannell sharing second place a point behind. Grading Prizes went to Alan DelaneyCalum Leitch and Mark Newman.

The Intermediate Championship (for players rated between 1400 and 1700) went to Steven Eachus who scored 4.5. Half a point behind was Ross Harris with a large group finishing equal third on 3.5, testimony to just how close a contest this was.

The Junior Championship (for players rated under 1300) was won by 16-year-old Matthew Chapman with an impressive final score of 5.5. Sharing second were Roy Stafford and William Storey. Grading Prizes went to Kevin Agnew, Cathal Murphy, Radhika Gupta and Ram Rajan.
