The second of the NICS Alan Burns Grandprix

On February 28th chess players gathered at the Civil Service Social Club a lovely venue with good food followed by an afternoon of intense chess...

This series of tournaments is a celebration of chess and one of its passionate players - Alan Burns.

We alternate a Sunday afternoon of intense chess (15mins) and then one of lacksidasical ( 20mins with 5sec increment). Players can enjoy the excellent lunches in the relaxing surrounds of the Pavillion Restaurant.

The chess is fun. The games are still a series of beautiful positions, attacking openings, tactical middles games and challenging complex endgames. Art in motion.

This afternoon was an intense with 8 rounds following in quick sucession.
