Players in Belfast can now play chess outside on a stone Chess Board thanks to Belfast City Council.
Tony Beckett RIP
Many a tear has fallen in Bangor, following the sad news of the death of our much-loved Tony Beckett, aged 83, a larger-than-life character, a former Team Captain and Club President of Bangor Chess Club. He also served as UCU President in the late 1990s/early 2000s.
Bangor Spring Blitz Tournament Report
20 players competed in the Bangor Spring Blitz on Thursday 10 March. The tournament was six rounds of 10+0 with 5 awards up for grabs.

March Madness Grand Prix Tournament at GFC Chess
On Mondays 28th February, 14th March and the 28th March GFC Chess will be hosting three tournaments that will make up the March Madness Grand Prix Tournament.

Ethan Cole 9 years old becomes Ulster Schools Champion 2021/22
The Schools Ulster Individual Championships took place at Methodist College on Saturday 11th December. 24 players gathered to see who would battle to become an Ulster Champion for their age group and who would be win and become The Ulster Champion and the Girls Ulster Champion.
Alan Burns series of tournaments started on Sunday 5th December 2021
Its so good to have chess face to face and to be able to continue with our regular tournaments. The Alan Burns is a fun set of 4 tournaments. Held on Sunday afternoons. This Sunday saw a very strong section with some of Ulsters Top Players and some of its youngest.
