Our monthly schools events continues. With approx 28 pupils playing and solving chess puzzles at Methodist College. This months event was sponsored by Brypol Electrical.

We celebrate young chess talent at the end of year Award Ceremony and Elite Chess tournament. Usually held at Stormont in June. The top 4 pupils of each section are invited. We have a grandprix system to allocate points per tournament. Find the current standings below.
March 2024 FIDE NI Rating Report – 14 players make a debut by FIDE National Arbiter Brendan Jamison
Well done to 14 more players gaining a FIDE rating on the 1st March rating list. The season is almost over but we have one last major speed event scheduled for April, the Ulster Rapidplay, taking place on Saturday 6th April at the beautiful harbour village of Groomsport (City of Bangor Chess Club). The Childrens Chess - Hindley Newman Series of Chess Tournaments continued on Saturday 14th January 2014 at our usual venue of Methodist College - Some 30 young players gathered for an afternoon of brilliant chess and puzzle solving.

A new Ulster Schools Champion 2023/24
On Saturday 2nd December with over 30 players and 2 previous Champions - the reigning Champion and the previous Champion - and youngsters of all age groups we were in for a day of brilliant chess and crowning of Ulster Champions.
