Summer Tournament Award Ceremony and fun tournament

On the last Wednesday of September 25th 2019 we had the Summer Tournament awards and the usual Fun tournament with a time handicap.

The last Wednesday of September and time for the fun tournament that has a time handicap - the larger the difference of the players ratings the bigger the time difference - so two players of the same rating would get 10mins each. I played a couple of games where I only had 3 mins and my opponent had 17 mins - the below results show that this did bring an interesting challenge to the higher rated players. Many thanks to David Seaby for providing the table of rating differences and the times to be allocated.

We had 16 players of a range of ratings. A nice surprise was to see the presence of two new players the brother Gerald and Stephen McLaughlin who had heard about this at the Culture Night.

Quite a few upsets in round 1 - Adrian Dornford-Smith beats Mark Newman. Andy Boal beats Stewart McConaghy and Geoff Hindley beats David Seaby. Bobby Thompson draws against Damien Lavery (although I think Bobby's rating should be higher than 1280!) So the time difference appears to make a difference.
