Annual Flexible Winter Tournament 2018 -2019

This tournament has been on the UCU Calendar since 2012 and is organised by Belfast South Chess Club. After the closure of The Bankers Club in December 2017 the remainder of last year's tournament was held at Queen's University. Thanks to QUB Chess Club we will be again holding this year's tournament in the University. To avoid clashes with other UCU events the number of rounds has been reduced to 16.

This is a flexible tournament. Players may play up to 16 games ( at least 10 to qualify for a prize, 2 of which must also be played within the last 3 weeks).

A player's percentage score will determine eligibility for a prize and the latest UCU Rating List will be used to assign players to a grading band. Although players will be paired usually within their grading this cannot always be guaranteed.

The tournament will be run over 2 sessions with a break for Xmas. The last night before Xmas will be 17 December 2018 and the tournament will restart on 21 January 2019.

There will be prizes of £60 for the Winner and £40 for the Runner-up. There will also be a prize of £20 for the best percentage score in each grading band. In addition there will be 2 Best Game prizes of £10.

Entry Fee will be £12 ( £10 for QUB students and Club members)
