Message from League Controller in relation to QUB 3 withdrawing from Division 3

Dear league players, unfortunately QUB 3 were unable to play their last 3 league fixtures due to exam season and had to withdraw from the league.

Dear league players, unfortunately QUB 3 were unable to play their last 3 league fixtures due to exam season and had to withdraw from the league. In such cases, all points scored against QUB 3 have to be removed to level the playing field so Division 3 league teams can not benefit over other teams from forfeits by QUB 3. I studied at university for 6 years and was unable to play chess during this time due to the pressures of university life so QUB Chess Club has my full support as I completely understand the challenges. I’d like to see the league wrap up by the end of March next season as a longer league does not only impact on students but also school pupils sitting exams. With more and more younger players and students now competing in the 3 leagues, I’ll do everything in my power to ensure we have a better structure in place next season.
