The Schools Ulster Championship 2018/19 the results
We arrived and serup our arrows directing players to the Canteen at Methodist College. Players started arriving and setup the room with board sets and clocks set to 25mins each player. A phone call and a youngster is on there way from Armagh (a give them a travelling bye). We decide to have one section as there is a good spread of chess talent across all the years. One section with 22 players. James Fairly pairs the players and the first round begins - a silence of deep thought fills the room.
As usual we gave out chess problem sheets which the players did between rounds - a brilliant way of improving your chess and discussing chess.
