The Childrens Chess Grandprix Standings 2018/19

We have one tournament to go - April 13th. Who is on to win the Grandprix - the Belfast Scholastic Shields and be invited to Stormont by MLA Chris Lyttle for the special award ceremony and elite competition.

Over the series of Childrens Chess tournaments points are awarded for the places of the pupils the sections: Primary School, Lower Secondary (Form1 - Form3) and Upper Secondary (Form4 and above). Also for Puzzle solving Primary and Secondary. The pupils best 3 scores are added together over the series of competitions and then the top 4 are invited by MLA Chris Lyttle to Stormont for an Award Ceremony and Elite Competition in early June.

Its a close fight in the Secondary Schools puzzle solving with Louie McConkey in the lead on 18 points followed by 3 players on 10, Calum Glendinning, Conor MacRandal and Adam Rushe. Followed by several players with a shout of getting into the top 4 at the next tournament,

Dexter Harris has won the Primary Shield with the maximum of 30 out of 30. Followed by Adam Fitzsimons, Cian Suitor. Both Lucy Bueckert and Taufik Kamal share 4th  place followed closely by Aaditya Singh.

Kamal Taufik heads the Primary Shield closely followed by Dexter Harris - the next tournament will decide, Third and Fourth are Calvin Patterson and Aaditya SIngh. Followed by Adam Fitzsimons and Lucy Bueckert.

The lower secondary section is open for lots of possibilities. Lead by Mohammed Rakeeb closely followed by Aayush Bhari, Ben Toogood. and sharing 4th place we have 6 players. So all to play for in the final tournament of the series.

James Wong has an unassailable lead with 29 points. Followed by Louie McConkey and fighting for 3 and 4th places we have Adam Rushe and James and Conor MacRandal.

Our next tournament is on Saturday April 13th 12:30pm Methodist College.
