Alan Burns Lacksidasical April 2017

With the third tournament the standings are set for the final tournament on April 30th. Who will win the Grand Prix..... 12 players played some brilliant chess.

The third tournament of the Alan Burns Grand Prix was held at Civil Service Social Club on 9th April. The Clock settings were set to 20 minutes with 5 second increment - a very good time setting as the endings can be played properly without too much of a time struggle. I think going forward we will make all the tournaments in this series these lacksadasical timings.

Adrian Dornford-Smith plays superbly to beat much higher rated Mark Newman - could he keep this up? The rest of the games go to rating.

A very generous donar gave the Eddie Whiteside library a collection of some 40 DVDs. The Eddie Whiteside Library was available for use and we added a couple of new members who took the opportunity to borrow some very useful DVDs for their chess training.
