The Summer tournament starts back at the Civil Service Pavillion - May 2nd

Start the summer by playing at the Summer tournament - a flexible tournament over 20 weeks. Back at its original venue with excellent parking and surroundings.
The Summer Tournament is back at Civil Service Social Club starting Wednesday 2nd May 2018 at the Maynard Sinclair Pavilion.
Some rounds are played in the Playball room which closes at 10:00pm on these evenings please arrive at 6:30pm.
The first evening will be in the Playball room so please arrive at 6:30pm. Most evenings are played in the main building arrive at 7:30pm.
Playball Room - 2nd May and 30th May.

The UCU Summer Tournament is open to all chess players and provides regular competitive chess during the summer months when many chess clubs are closed.

Venue NICS,Maynard Sinclair Pavilion, Stormont, Upper Newtownards Road Belfast BT4 3TA


Starting Wednesday 2nd May 2018 and every Wednesday (except 11th July ).

Ending Wednesday 26th September 2018.

Start Time for each round 7:45pm. (arrive at 7:30pm) except when in Playball building - when you must arrive at 6:30pm.

Format The tournament is flexible – players play whichever nights suit them with pairings being made on the evening. Players are usually paired with opponents within their own grading band but late comers may get a difficult draw – so please be prompt.

Time limit Each player gets 1 hour 30 minutes for the complete game.

Prizes will depend on number of entrants but it is likely that the winner will receive about £60. There will be grading bands again depending on entrants.

Rules
1. Players must complete 10 games to be considered for prizes.
2. If a player does not play in two of the last three rounds they will be assumed to have played and lost 2 games. If they play only one then they will forfeit one game.
3. However if a player has played 14 or more games then they are exempt from rule 2.
4. Scores will be calculated on a percentage basis.
