Alan Burns Lacksidasical May 2018

The 3rd of the Alan Burns Lacksidasicals took place on May 13th. A beautiful sunny day for a relaxing game of chess.

The times for the Alan Burns Lacksidasicals allows for fairley relaxed chess. We play 20mins with 5 second increments. This means no last dashes to the finish with time scrambles and hopefully we get good long well thought out endgames. An afternoon of Chess to enjoy.

Round one saw alot of draws. I played as we had an odd number of players. With the arrival of Tony Redden making an even no without me I only got one game! There were heavy road works on the Newtownards Road so getting to the Pavilion was quite a challenge. So good to see players turning up. As there was a Hockey tournament we were moved from Playball to the luscious surrounds of the bowling green pavilion. Which may have further confused. But we eventually got under way and also should mention the weather was beautiful.

It was good to see players I dont regularly see or havent seen for a while. Steven Scannell travelled from Banbridge - its always good to see Steven and even better to play him...

Stephen looses on time in a complicated position and Richard Gould goes into the lead. Peter Wilson gets a good win over Nial. Ross Smith after an excellent draw in round 1 losses to Tony Redden - just looking at the ratings its going to be a tough competition for Ross.
