Lockdown Summer Tournament: weeks 15 - 18
We have had 87 slow games of chess - 1hour 30mins each player.
Here are some interesting positions from the lattest weeks of the tournament.
Michael Hood v Robert Lavery: https://lichess.org/15AYSx00 A fascinating position. Michael went on to obtain a draw. |
In a very difficult but interesting endgame - Robert misses Bc7 that could break the deadlock. |

I think its very easy to miss a move on the screen that you might have spotted over the board. here we have Joseph Gunning v Barney Mcghan https://lichess.org/NRJkgRBj - Joseph playing White misses Qxc5 threatening both rooks.
|
It took me going through this game to spot the lovely discovered check of the White Bishop playing Bxh7+ that saves White from loosing a piece on c3. |
Michael Mckimm v Robert Lavery : https://lichess.org/NRJkgRBj Michael does a fascinating sacrifice of Bxc5 followed by d6 and Rxf7. |
Michaels play leads to a win when Robert blunders with Qxc3.
|
David Corr v Joseph Gunning : https://lichess.org/ZyI4iP7H Whats interesting here is that White has played b4 and its flagged as ?? a blunder. Recommendinh the alternative of Bc5. Joseph went on to win the game. |
Now we are in the last few weeks the usual rules come into play:
Rules
1. Players must complete 10 games to be considered to qualify.
2. If a player does not play in two of the last three rounds they will be assumed to have played and lost 2 games. If they play only one then they will forfeit one game.
3. However if a player has played 14 or more games then they are exempt from rule 2.
4. Scores will be calculated on a percentage basis.
