Three weeks left and the standings for the Winter 2012 Tournament

With 3 rounds left how are the standings. This tournament alot of players have played almost every week. Which makes for a good tournament and occasionally provides some challenging pairings. Most players have played more than the 14 games that allow them to ignore the rule of having to play 2 of the 3 last weeks.

We have had some brilliant chess. Some challenging positions and lots of fun.

We have had 19 weeks of 3 hours per game chess. With 106 games and 24 players.

The current standings with 3 rounds/weeks to go is:

Danny Roberts leads the competition with 85.71% followed closely by Mark Newman (me!) - I have played less and on occassion played a game against a lower rated player who may have arrived late. As controller I have ruled myself out. So 2nd overall is Michael Hood on an excellent percentage of 66.67%. Leader of the top section is Chris Kelly.

Chris Armstrong leads Section 2. Closely followed by Joseph Gunning and Adrian Dornford-Smyth.

With Michael Hood 2nd overall that leaves David Corr leading section 3.

The last 3 week rule kicks in during these last weeks:

Rules
1. Players must complete 10 games to be considered to qualify.
2. If a player does not play in two of the last three rounds they will be assumed to have played and lost 2 games. If they play only one then they will forfeit one game.
3. However if a player has played 14 or more games then they are exempt from rule 2.
4. Scores will be calculated on a percentage basis.
