Williamson Shield

24th-25th January 2004 at Civil Service Chess Club

This year marks the centenary of H.B. Williamson presenting his eponymous Shield to the Strandtown Chess Club for Championship competition. However because of a dispute about the rules between the Belfast clubs, the first time the Shield was actually competed for was 1912. There were 33 entrants in total for this year's renewal of the Williamson Shield and the supporting Challengers section.
