ULSTER CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

The committee, which had charge of the Chess Championship of Ulster as their last act before dissolving, handed over the future arrangements to the secretaries of the local chess clubs, who, at a meeting held upon the 9th inst. at the rooms of the Belfast Chess Club, Central Hall, Rosemary Street, requested Mr. J. T. Barrett, honorary secretary Strandtown Chess Club, to act as secretary for the ensuing year. The following arrangement was unanimously arrived at:— "The tournament will be held in the Belfast Chess Club Rooms (kindly lent for the occasion) upon each Wednesday and Saturday evening from 7-30 p.m. to eleven p.m., commencing upon Wednesday, 30th inst.; time limit twenty-five moves per hour; clocks to be used; draws to count one half each ; ties to be played off; play to be under Staunton rules. Entrance, open to natives of or residents in Ulster, fee five shillings each; the present champion to meet all entrants." As will be seen by reference to our advertising columns, entries must be made and fees paid to honorary secretary of the Ulster Chess Championship Tourney on or before 26th inst. Through the kindness of the committee of the Belfast Chess Club all lovers of chess are cordially invited to witness the play.
