Ulster Schools' Individuals Tournament 2009

The Ulster Schools Chess Council organised its 2009 Individual Championships at Methodist College, Belfast on Saturday 5th December.

There were four age-group sections for players aged under 12, under 14, under 16 and under 19. Each section was held over six rounds.

Under 19

Leon Hulleman and Utkarsh Joshi both finished on 5 points, and Hulleman was awarded the title on tie-break. He had previously won the under 12 title in 2004, the under 14 in 2006, the under 16 in 2008 and is the first player to win all four titles. Joshi won his individual encounter with Hulleman in round 4 but had earlier lost to Fabian Doherty, who took the bronze medal on tie-break. Ciara Pugh won the Ulster Schoolgirls title.
