6. Proposed Resolutions:

 

  1. To amend our constitution so that we represent all the Counties in the Province of Ulster - so that in sections :2a, 2b, 2c, 2s, 2e and 2f  of the constitution we replace the reference to " in Northern Ireland" with - "in the 9 counties of Ulster. So that we have:  The Objects for which the Union is established are:- a) to encourage the study and practice of chess in the 9 counties of Ulster; b) to administer and develop the playing of chess in the 9 counties of Ulster; c) to arrange for the participation of players from the 9 counties of Ulster in British and Irish chess meetings and contests d) to act as the supreme governing body for chess in the 9 counties of Ulster, e) to affiliate to other chess organisations, and in particular the World Chess Federation (FIDE), in its role as the supreme governing body for chess in the 9 counties of Ulster, f) to be responsible for the representation of the 9 counties of Ulster in International chess contests and meetings.  - Proposed on behalf of the UCU Board by Mark Newman, Seconded Adrian Dornford-Smith.
  2. From this moment forward, incidents of cheating brought to the attention of arbiters/organisers of UCU chess events, during either ‘over the board’ or ‘online’ events, should be reported to the UCU executive board for their consideration and action if necessary. Proposed by Damien Lavery, Seconded by Michael Sheerin.
  3. From this moment forward , players deemed to have cheated during UCU chess events, during either ‘over the board’ or ‘online’ events, should have their membership suspended for one year and be prevented from taking part in any UCU related activities during that time.  Proposed by Damien Lavery, Seconded by Michael Sheerin.
  4. From this moment forward , arbiters/organisers of UCU chess events, either ‘over the board’ or ‘online’ events, who have allegations of cheating brought to their attention and fail to report those allegations to the UCU executive board for their consideration should have their membership suspended for one year and be prevented from taking part in any UCU related activities during that time.   Proposed by Damien Lavery, Seconded by Michael Sheerin.
