Chess At Stormont 2011

14 Top young Ulster chess players had their talent celebrated at the 4th Belfast Scholastic Award Ceremony. Hosted by Kieran McCarthy MLA at Stormont, June 10th 2011.

Primary School Champion

The top young chess players and their Principals were invite by MLA Kieran McCarthy to receive trophies for their play during the year and to play in the 'Stormont Elite Championship'.

During the year the Ulster Schools Chess Council and the Ulster Chess Union jointly run a series of monthly chess tournaments.  A grand-prix point system is accumulated from these and the 4 best placed chess players from the sections - Primary School, Years 8-10, Years 11-14 are invited to Stormont.

The best up and coming younger player(s) receive the award of 'Exceptional Young Player 2011'.
