M.C.B Chess 2004/2005
Over the past two years the Methodist College chess club has enjoyed remarkable success in both team and individual competitions. The highlight was perhaps the team’s winning of the All Ireland College’s Under 19 Championship in Dublin in 2004.

Ulster Intermediate and Junior Championships 2004
The Ulster Intermediate and Junior Championships were held on the weekend of 20 and 21 November 2004 at North Belfast Chess Club. The Intermediate was open to players rated between 1500 and 1900 and the Junior for those under 1500 and unrated. A disappointing number of entrants in the Intermediate event meant that the two sections had to be amalgamated.

City of Belfast 2005 Report
German player Bernhard Kern, who recently joined the Fisherwick Chess Club, won the Nemtzov Cup with 5.5 points out of 6, just a half-point ahead of Ulster champion Steve Scannell. The Henderson Cup, restricted to players rated under 1600, was won by Richard Proctor, who now has a hat-trick of titles this season.
