Congratulations to Paul Anderson of Civil Service Chess Club, winner of the January mini blitz organised by Bangor Chess Club on LiChess.
With a time control of 5+3, each game lasted about 10-15 minutes. It was extremely close at the top with Andrew Todd and Danny Roberts both ending with 15 points, just pipped to the post by Paul with 16 points.
It was great to see so many children and teenagers competing, especially Callum Glendinning who came 4th. Points were also picked up by primary school pupils Ethan Cole and Cian Suitor, meanwhile secondary pupils Ben Toogood and Callum Magennis enjoyed competing against the adults.
The tournament also welcomed back Colm Hawkins (current Ulster Junior Champion) and Chris Roe (returning after a 3 year break from chess.
Lots of online chess continues with the Monday night Winter tournament, the Sunday ICU/UCU speed events and the team rapidplay league commencing next week and the Friday ICU team Blitz event.
For those of you who enjoy slower chess theres the Virtual Williamson over the weekend of 30th/31st January.
