Lisburn Chess Club shares with deep sadness the news of the passing of young Gopi Marengo

The Ulster Chess Union has learned of the heartbreaking and untimely loss of 12-year-old Gopi, who passed away after a short illness.

Gopi M

Gopi, originally from Argentina, moved to Northern Ireland with his family and, along with his sister Radhika, became a valued member of the Lisburn Chess Club 18 months ago.

Tragically, the family is without wider support here in Northern Ireland and is facing significant financial hardship during this devastating time. Lisburn Chess Club has therefore begun a fundraising effort to support them. Anyone who is able to contribute is warmly encouraged to do so through the provided link.

The Ulster Chess Union extends its heartfelt condolences to Gopi’s parents, Naiara and Leonardo, to his sister Radhika, to his extended family, friends, and to the entire Lisburn Chess community as they grieve the loss of a beloved young member.
