10:30 to 13:00

Format: Swiss pairings

The event will run as one open section with trophies awarded for:

U18 Champion

U16 Champion

U14 Champion

U12 Champion

U10 Champion

U8 Champion

Newcomers/beginners/unrated are very welcome.

Number of Rounds: 6

Time control: 10+5

Date: Saturday 24 January 2026

Please note, all events at the Bangor Chess Club run on schedule, with all clocks starting at exactly 10:30. The time control is 10+5, therefore if a player fails to arrive within 10 minutes of the games starting, the player will lose the game when their time expires.

Timetable:

Take seats at 10:25

Round 1 at 10:30

Round 2 at 10:55

Round 3 at 11:20

Round 4 at 11:50

Round 5 at 12:15

Round 6 at 12:40

Prize-giving at approximately 13:00

FIDE rules will apply. Remember mobile phones must be switched off and no food allowed in playing hall. Drinks are permitted at the tables.

There will be a parents seating area in the corner of the main hall on comfy sofa-style seats (just please have phone on silent mode).

Tournament entry fees:

£20 for anyone paying cash on the day (if we still have space available, only players who pay in advance are guaranteed a place).

50% reduced price of £10 for players paying in advance by bank transfer, Revolut or PayPal.

Free entry for extra players from the same family.

Trophies will be awarded as prizes.

Tie Break order: Buchholz, Progressive, TPR Mixed

Free public car park almost directly opposite venue. Harbour and beach behind venue. 2 minutes walk.
