City of Derry Chess Club

Derry City chess club meet on Thursdays

The club has moved premises for 2009; they now meet on Tuesdays from 7:30-11:00 in the Vebal Arts Centre in Bishop Street. Alan Turnbull also organises a beginners session in Pilot's Row Centre, Roseville Street from 6:30-8:00 on Friday evenings.

The club is very strong in promoting junior chess. This year Alan Turnbull has plans for a huge event in the spring.

Derry City run several tournaments for their members. The club organsies

  • the North Ulster league
  • City of Derry Championship
  • Castle Cup
  • Eugene O'Hare Cup
