Ulster Plate
The UCU Plate was originally devised as a competition for clubs who did not qualify for the closing stages of the Ulster Team Championship.

2004 - FISHERWICK - B
When the format for the Ulster Team Championship was changed at the UCU AGM in June 2004, this brought about a similar change for the Plate. It moved to an early season date and became a competition for the top three teams from the previous season's Belfast & District League Division 2 plus a "wildcard."
2004 - FISHERWICK
With the withdrawal of the Ulster Chess Union from the ICU in 2005, the need for the Ulster Team Championship (and by extension the Plate) reduced and it was no longer played. The Ulster Team Championship was revived in 2016 with a one-day rapidplay format and in 2018 the Ulster Plate also returned as one of two subsidiary tournaments.
