Geek Retreat Valentine's Day Blitz Report
On Tuesday 14th February, Geek Retreat on Bangor Main Street hosted a special Valentine’s Day Blitz.
Spread over 7 rounds of 10+0, the mini tournament had 13 participants. The Chief Arbiter was Adam Rushe.
Congratulations to 15 year old Caleb McClean, crowned champion with an excellent score of 6/7. Tyrone Winter won the trophy for 2nd place and 15 year old Josh Whearty won 3rd place, with an exceptional win over 1604 rated Adam Rushe!
We had 5 newcomers competing in their first ever rated tournament and a big congratulations to Diarmuid Hart for scoring 3 points to win the Best Newcomer medal!
The Geek Retreat chess club runs every Tuesday night from 6pm to 9pm, with Bangor Chess Club Officials Richard McClean and Rebecca McClurg. It costs £6 to attend and this includes a free drink from the cafe.
