The Summer Chess School the final event of the Childrens Chess year.
This year we had 3 volunteers Alex Goss (one of Ulsters top players), Richard Morrow ( a good player and excellent teacher ), Geoff Hindley ( a regular at the Childrens Chess events and past UCU President). Many thanks also to Damien Cunningham who helped get the excellent venue. Thanks also to the Council for the venue and the person at the vennue who provided lots of useful help.
We had 3 days of studing and playing chess. From openings to endings to solving tactical problems. With team chess where the players had to discuss the plans for their moves infront of their opponents - so plenty of chess chat. With lunches provding an opportunity to play or learn other board games such as Othello, Jenga, Worri, Fanorona, Abalone.....
The weather was so hot that we played in the outside on the veranda area of the enclosed Bowling Green - a brilliant 3 days of sun and chess.
At the end of the three days every player got a certificate of attendance with photos from the event.
