Arthur Pinkerton Cup

Currently awarded to the winner of the Ulster Junior Championship.

The Arthur Pinkerton Cup is named after a former Secretary of the Ulster Chess Union. It was first presented in 1980, but the Ulster Junior Championship itself dates back to 1936.

The present Cup is actually not the 1980 original. When Hannah Lowry-O'Reilly won the Championship in 2003, she made arrangements for the Cup to be engraved. However the engraver lost the Cup (though curiously not the base) and agreed to provide a replacement by making use of a sketch of the original Cup, prepared by UCU Trophy Officer, Geoff Hindley.
