Record-breaking numbers at this year's Ulster Blitz 2024/25
Record-breaking numbers of around 60 players are expected at this year's Ulster Blitz as Bangor Chess Club hosts the 18 round blitz extravaganza on Saturday 28 December. We have space to fit a few more players in (as at 10am on Sunday 22 December, but be warned we often get a surge of players trying to enter in the 5 days leading up to event)
Not for the faint-hearted at a time control of 3+2, we are running 9 rounds back-to-back from 10am to 12:30pm, then a 1 hour lunch break before the afternoon session from 1:30pm to 4pm, followed by prize-giving at 4:15pm.
For our Under 18 players, DGT1002 clocks will be awarded to the highest placed finishers in 5 age bands, with special thanks to the Irish Chess Union who donated the clocks to Bangor Chess Club for distribution as prizes to young players.
