Bangor Rapid Championship 2021 November 18th
Bangor Rapid Championship 2021
Tournament Report by Rebecca McClurg, Arbiter and Vice-Chair of Bangor Chess Club
On Thursday 18th November we had a brilliant turn out at Pickie Bowling club for the Bangor Rapid Championship 2021.
Twenty-two players sat down for the 5 round tournament at 7pm, to the melodies of the Bangor Ukes. With fifteen minutes each on the clock every move counts to keep ahead on time.
Mandar Tahmankar took first place with four wins and a draw. Danny Roberts won the 2nd place trophy with four points and Cathan Gormley was 3rd with three and a half points. Sett Podean took home the grading trophy with three wins. The junior grading trophy was won by 9 year old Ethan Cole who had a few epic battles across the board to get his points.
Thank you to all spectators, players and arbiters for arranging, attending and supporting as always.
The next Bangor Chess Club event is on Thursday 2nd December from 7-10pm, a special lecture and simul by the Ulster Rapidplay Champion Danny Roberts. 14 places are already booked up for this event and everyone is really looking forward to it.
