Danny took the time to look over the games from the recent City of Belfast tournament. He gave us his commentary on one of the games
4 of our young players make their FIDE blitz debuts in the July rating list
Brendan Jamison has been a driving force to get as many of our local players onto the FIDE rating ladder. So far in 2022, he has held 12 FIDE rated events during Jan-May and has many more planned for Sept-Dec. This remains his top passion within the local chess scene and each month sees about 4 new local players appear on the FIDE rating lists.
News story: Elephant Chess Sculpture creates magic trail across Belfast city centre
International sculptor Brendan Jamison has created a chess-themed charity sculpture for the NI Hospice in a special city-wide art spectacle this summer. From 20th June, 30 uniquely designed Elmer elephants will appear on the streets of Belfast to form the biggest-ever public art trail the city has ever seen, running for ten weeks until 31st August 2022.
Ulster Rapidplay Championship 2022 took place on Sunday 22nd May.
Some 26 players gathered at the Civil Service Pavilion. 12 in the top section and 14 in the intermediate section. With a time limit of 20mins and 5 secs - we were in for some good chess.
