Another excellent turnout at the Omagh rapidplay on its 3rd year running.
Muldoons get QUB revenge to gain on leaders
(B&D League 2016/17 Week 6) An exciting three-way title race is brewing in Division 1 as Muldoons 1 made amends for their Week 1 defeat to QUB 1 to propel themselves back into title contention. In Division 2, Ballynafeigh 3 and QUB 2 drew their top-of-the-table clash while QUB 3 continue to steamroll Division 3.
Universal Childrens Day and Chess Problem Solving.
In support of the Chess and Heritage Event run alongside of " Celebration of 800 years of Mayorality and Freeman of Newcastle of Tyne" on the Universal Children Day. Malola Prasath invited the Ulster Chess Union, to make it into a grand "Northeast Celebration". Ulster Chess Union ran a fun problem solving event at Caffe Nero, Lombard St. A small group of Problem solvers met and enthusiastically solved problems.
Ballynafeigh 3 stun Kelly's Heroes to open up Division 2 lead
(B&D League 2016/17 Week 5) Ballynafeigh 3 are emerging as the clear leaders in Division 2 after dominating a strong Kelly's Heroes team. Meanwhile in Division 1, it remains tight at the top as QUB 1 and Ballynafeigh 1 shared the points.
Alan Burns Grand Prix starts on December 11th
The Alan Burns Grand Prix series kicks-off on 11th December. Now in its fourth year, the Lackadaisical Rapidplays offer the chance for an excellent Sunday lunch followed by an afternoon of entertaining chess.
