Ulster Team Rapidplay Championships 2018
The Ulster Team Rapidplay Championships 2018 were played on Saturday 3rd February at the Good Shepherd Centre. A report of the event hot off the press from the brilliant organiser Brendan Jamison. With 72 players and some great chess.
Kelly's Heroes in pole position as Division 2 splits
(B&D League 2017/18 Week 11) With the pre-split fixtures now complete, the top three in Division 2 are separated by just four points, while Muldoons 1's inexorable march towards the Silver King continues unabated as they thrash The A Team.
Sadly Alex Beckett has passed away.
An inspirational leader in our local chess scene, Alex Beckett, has died at the age of 86. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. The amount of time and energy he poured into the development of chess in Belfast will forever make him a legend within Ulster Chess. Alex Beckett’s funeral will be held at Knockbreda Church of Ireland Parish Church, Church Road, Belfast BT8 7AN at 11am this Friday 26th January.
