Qualifiers from the Belfast Mega-finals play in the Giga-finals

The Delancey UK Chess Challenge is one of the top tournaments for young chess players. We held our Belfast Mega-finals on 11th May as part of our monthly tournaments at Methodist College. The next step the Giga-finals were played Over the Board (22/23 June, 6/7 & 20/21 July) and Online Options (7/8 September). Lets see how our players did.

Andrew Campbell and Toby Crothers played in the Under 18 Giga-finals in Manchester while Nathan Murray played in the Under 14s. Alex Mckeown played in Scotland in the Under 8s, Jake Gourley played in the Under 14's and Jonah Corr played in the Under 18s.

Below are their final standings. The Gigafinals are an opportunity to pit your skills against the top young players in the UK, also an opportunity to see a brilliantly well run tournament with large numbers of players.

In the Under 18 Andrew and Toby played in a strong field of 47 players. Both scoring 4 out of 7. Andrew coming 16th and Toby 20th.
