News Story: Newry FIDE Summer Classic doubles capacity
For the upcoming FIDE-rated event in Newry on Sunday 14th August, the U1800 Summer Classic, we were limited to 18 players but have now taken a second room at the arts centre to increase capacity to 36. We have also increased the number of trophies/shields/cups available to win.

On Friday June 10th a celebration of young chess talent took place at Stormont. Students, Parents, Principals, Teachers were the guests of Naomi Long MLA for the morning with a tour of the building, a chess tournament and an award ceremony.
6 upcoming FIDE rated events for August/September
Northern Ireland will see 6 FIDE-rated events during mid-August to the end of September. Ranging from blitz to rapid and classic tournaments, there’s something for all. Early booking is advised as most of the venues have a set limit on capacity.
